BLAME IT ON THE EARTHQUAKE

In light of the recent earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, I present you with a  really interesting article by Lebbeus Woods – which discusses the lack of responsibility taken by architects and engineers in finding serious solutions to deal with this catastrophic, (but totally natural) event when it occurs in an urban environment. He makes the point that the tragedy which results from earthquakes occurring in populated areas is not the ‘fault’ of the earthquake (hoho), but more a failure of the architects and engineers who constructed that environment. I agree with him in the case of areas where earthquakes are already identified as a risk.
