Upcoming Oxford based producer/vocalist Julia-Sophie provides the first in a series of eight remixes of Emma-Kate Matthews' 2020 'Far Flung' EP.

"Emma-Kate's remix of her own track 'Forgot to Swim' is simultaneously spatial, lofty & intense, combining classical instrumentation and abstract field recordings with dancefloor aesthetics. This remix presents a rich weave of resonant drones, deep layered harmonies, slow cascading melodies & abstract metallic samples, backed by solid drum-kit rhythms."

 

The remixes are released once per week until the entire album is released, in full, on the 8th of December 2021 with remixes from Heavenly Stems, Casually Here, Dampé, Eye Measure, Sunplus, Ben McDonnell and Emma-Kate Matthews herself.

The Far Flung EP explores the contrasting styles of synthesised versus acoustic sounds, field recordings versus musical motifs and digital versus analogue techniques for producing and manipulating sounds. Eerie drones are interwoven with complex upbeat rhythms, deep layered harmonies and erratic melodies to form an elastic sonic fabric which oscillates between moments of lightweight sonic ambiguity and highly-charged musical statements.
